   However, the conductivity of pure silicon is very poor. There are no freely moving electrons in the crystal structure. In order to enhance its conductivity, usually trace impurities are appropriately mixed into pure silicon to enhance its conductivity. According to this characteristic, different conductive devices can be manufactured.

 

 

 

   For silicon used to make solar panels, phosphorus or boron is usually added. When boron is added, the silicon crystal will form a hole, because the original silicon atom is surrounded by 4 electrons, while the boron atom is surrounded by only 3 electrons. When the original crystal structure is added, holes are also generated. This hole has no electrons and is very unstable. It is easy to absorb other electrons to form a P-type semiconductor.

 

 

 

   However, it should be noted that semiconductors are not good conductors. The electrons flow through the p-n junction and then enter the semiconductor, causing huge losses. Therefore, the upper layer is usually coated with metal. However, if it is completely painted, sunlight cannot pass through. Generally, a metal gate is used to cover the p-n junction.

 

 

 

   Another thing to note is that the silicon surface is highly reflective. If not treated, a lot of sunlight will be reflected off. In order to solve this problem, solar led outdoor light manufacturers will choose a protective film with a small reflection coefficient on the battery panel to control the loss caused by reflection within 5%.
